Since 1960, the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute has been serving watchmakers and clockmakers through the mission of Setting service standards and educating the horological community. The Institute is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to the advancement of the modern watch industry, with members throughout the world. The AWCI strives to grow the industry through numerous avenues that include technical and business services, communications, education and certification. The Institute also serves its members by providing and outreach and advocacy for the timekeeping (or horology) profession.

AWCI has worked with horology schools, individual watchmakers and clockmakers, manufacturers and retailers to advance the art, science and business of horology. The AWCI hosts the largest online repair directory connecting consumers with local repair professionals who are AWCI members, however this does not include all local repair professionals.
