Throughout Harrison, Ohio and the surrounding community, preparations are underway for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. The event will occur Monday, April 8, 2024. The partial eclipse will visibly begin at 1:53 p.m. in Harrison, Ohio as the moon begins to pass in front of the sun. Totality begins at 3:07 p.m. and will last for more than a minute and a half, creating total darkness.

Some stores are selling glasses and some businesses are offering a place to enjoy the show. Below is a “round-up” of local activities related to the Total Solar Eclipse.

“May the shadow of the moon fall on a world at peace.”

-Frank Reynolds, 1979 solar eclipse media report

Several businesses and organizations will be closed for the day or close early, including Southwest Local School District and many banks. As a note, some businesses are regularly closed on Mondays. Preparedness will go a long way to making sure event is memorable for all the right reasons.  In addition to closures, traffic is expected to be a concern as huge as people travel to the area to view the eclipse.
