From moving goods to simply getting to work, Harrison businesses count on the Dry Fork Road and I-74 interchange to connect to the world. The Improvement Project calls for four traffic lanes in addition to a dedicated, left-turn lane accessing I-74 eastbound. The expansion will make it possible to attract more investment and improve the overall quality of life for all of us in Greater Harrison.
It’s critical to anticipate and plan for detours that could interrupt business operations. The update below was provided by TEC Engineering and the City of Harrison. The Chamber recommends subscribing to the City’s text and email communication tools for updates about roads, events and other information.
The bridge project is still on schedule to start construction in the Spring of 2026. TEC is working on the final plan set now as well as the retiming of the New Haven signals to accommodate the detour traffic.
The plan is for the bridge to close for 9 months to build the new bridge. The ramps will remain open through construction. This schedule will become more clear once the construction project is awarded and the contractor is selected. The proposed detour will utilize the existing ramps and the adjacent interchanges. (WB On I-74, u-turn at the New Haven interchange and then EB on I-74).
To facilitate this, the City has secured a grant to retime the signals along New Haven which will allow the signals to operate together during construction and move traffic through both intersections.
In response to the concerns about the Weigh Station located on EB I-74 between the New Haven Interchange and the Dry Fork Interchange, we have looked into the operation of the Weigh Station. The City has had discussions with ODOT and this station has the ability to utilize PrePass. This system will allow trucks to bypass the Weigh Station in most instances. The City of Harrison was awarded TRAC funding from ODOT for future phases of the Dry Fork Interchange project ( for the eastbound Off Ramp and Dry Fork south of the interchange). That phase will start design this year and construction is slated for 2027 or 2028.
