HARRISON, Ohio—Aug. 10, 2017—A community forum will provide information on the Southwest Local School District’s levy request, which will be put before voters in the November election.

The Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce is inviting voters and impacted members of the business community to attend the forum Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Martin Marietta Performing Arts Theater (at the high school activity center) on West Road.

SWLSD is asking taxpayers to approve a $78 million, 7.09-mill bond issue so the high school can be renovated and four new schools can be built. Voters have turned down at least two ballot measures from SWLSD in the past two years.

“Although not everyone who works or does business in our area will be able to vote, the issue certainly impacts every business owner in our general area,” said Gary Ellerhorst, government advocacy chair for the Chamber.

The business community is also invited to share input via a two-question survey. More information about this event is posted here.

The Greater Harrison Chamber was founded in 2014 to promote the prosperity of the greater Harrison business community. Community members wanted an organization that focused on the development and support of the local business community and to provide a voice for local businesses to city, county, state and national government. The Chamber also provides educational forums, networking, leadership development, marketing opportunities and benefit programs.
