HARRISON, Ohio—Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for eight awards to honor outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals who promote growth and prosperity in the community.
Nominations should be completed below and are due Nov. 5, 2021 by 5 p.m. The award categories are designed to offer recognition opportunities for businesses large and small, as well as stand-out individuals.
RECOGNITION FOR INDIVIDUALS
Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce offers three award categories to recognize individual people who are making a difference in the local business community. While Chamber membership is not required to be eligible for these categories, it is encouraged. Eligible candidates can nominate themselves or they may be nominated by someone else. Nominations should be made with the form below and will be reviewed by committee with final approval made by the Chamber Board of Directors. Award recipients will be notified by the Chamber.
Greater Harrison Rising Star of the Year
The Rising Star Award will recognize one local, young professional who has emerged as a business leader, demonstrated excellence, creativity and initiative in his or her career and has had a positive impact on their workplace and community. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Live or work in greater Harrison area
- Aged between 21 and 40 years old
- Provide details about employment and community service
- Preferably involved with Greater Harrison Chamber Young Professionals
Mary Lou Smith Outstanding Community Service Award
The recipient of this award will demonstrate compassion and service to either one organization or a variety of volunteer activities. The honoree performs service or actions considered above and beyond the call of duty, creating a lasting or meaningful impact on the community. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Live or work in the greater Harrison area
- Conduct charitable activities, events or services that are outside the scope of their employment (the individual cannot receive any monetary or personal benefits from these activities)
- Demonstrate the degree to which service has made an impact by listing details about the length of service and activities, leadership roles, etc.
Greater Harrison Lifetime Achievement Award
This award will identify a local leader whose long-term active engagement in our community has had a significantly positive impact on our local economy. The recipient is a successful leader in a company, industry and in our community. The honoree is a true pillar and example to future generations. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Live or work in the greater Harrison area
- Serve in a leadership role in a local company
- Demonstrate contributions over the entirety of a career by providing details about employment, community service, etc.
- Has preferably been involved in the Greater Harrison Chamber and business community for several years
RECOGNITION FOR BUSINESSES
Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce offers three award categories to recognize outstanding local businesses. Businesses of all sizes and industries, as long as they have local impact, are encouraged to apply. Chamber membership is not required to be eligible for these categories, but it is encouraged. Eligible businesses should be nominated by a representative of that company. Nominations will be reviewed by committee with final approval by the Chamber Board of Directors. Finalists will be notified by the Chamber.
Greater Harrison Corporate Community Excellence Award
This award recognizes a business that has demonstrated exemplary level of community engagement. The business positively impacts the quality of life in the community for its customers, employees, and neighbors. Whether the business is large or small, it shows a willingness to work with other Harrison businesses, enthusiasm for the community and its citizens, and works continually towards the betterment of the community. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Located within the greater Harrison area
- Demonstrate a positive difference to the lives of customers, employees and neighbors by providing data, testimonials, or anecdotes.
- List detailed involvement with local service organizations, schools, churches, or community activities
Greater Harrison Innovator of the Year
This award recognizes a business that has succeeded through innovation and risk-taking. Examples of innovation may include introducing new products or services, growing existing product lines through unique approaches, or even implementing new policies, procedures or facilities for employees or customers. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Located within the greater Harrison area
- Demonstrate that innovation has contributed to improved business performance, employee betterment, and/ or overcome challenges
- Provide details that speak to achieved goals, such as data, industry recognition, testimonials, etc.
Greater Harrison Emerging Business of the Year
This award is presented to a new business (in operation 1-3 years) that has gained an expanding positive reputation and demonstrates excellence in management, marketing, customer services and integrity. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Located within the greater Harrison area
- Provide details that speak to achieved goals, such as data, industry recognition, testimonials, etc.
- Demonstrate a positive reputation, excellent customer service and employee relations
MEMBERS-ONLY AWARDS
Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce has reserved two legacy award categories exclusively for Chamber members in good standing. Nominations should be made by a representative of the business or organization. Nominations will be reviewed by committee with final approval by the Chamber Board of Directors. Finalists will be notified by the Chamber.
Greater Harrison Chamber Non-Profit of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce member that has made a remarkable difference in serving people or causes that matter in our community. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- A member in good standing with the Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce
- Located in the greater Harrison area
- Must be an active 501 (c) (3) organization operating within Harrison area
- In operation for a minimum of three years
- Demonstrate success through verifiable data that supports the community while adhering to the nonprofit’s mission statement.
Greater Harrison Chamber Business of the Year
This award honors a local business in the Harrison that has recently made a significant contribution to the overall good of the community and their workforce. Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- A member in good standing with the Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce
- Located in the greater Harrison area
- Business must be established and in operation for at least three years
- Demonstrate contribution to the overall good of the community through employment, capital investment, philanthropy/ community involvement, aesthetic improvement, delivery of unique or specialized products or services, or recognition through significant business achievement
2020 Chamber award honorees included Market Street Grille, Lifespring Community Christian Church and others.
